Charity Involvement

  Heart Pillows

We provide heart pillows to the Cardiac departments of the local hospitals for those having cardiac surgery.  These pillows are used by the patients after surgery, to hold when they are coughing to reduce strain on the stitches.  Our people meet in our club room to sew, stuff and produce the necessary pillows.

  Cat Blankets

We also have a group of knitters that provide cat blankets for the local Humane Society.  These are placed on the metal bottoms of the cages to protect the animals.

  Fund Raising

We raise funds for a Jamboree for Disabled Teens held yearly. The teens from thirteen to nineteen are either blind or in wheelchairs.  The yearly event sponsors these teens and their families for a weekend of fun and fellowship.  This year, we were able to support ten teens and their families at the Jamboree.

Each year, all monies raised by fundraising are dispersed to local community charities.

  Food and Toys

Our members are asked to bring non-perishable food donation for the food bank to our monthly meetings.  Also, food and toy donations for disadvantaged children are brought by members when they attend our yearly Christmas luncheon.

 Fellowship

  Personal Contact

In our large membership base, we keep in touch with retirees who are over 80, 90, and 100 years of age. In the past, BCE Inc. departments kept in touch with their individual retirees.  This practice has been discontinued, and we saw the need to continue the contact.  We call or see these people at minimum twice a year, their birthdays and at Christmas.

 Trips/Outings

We plan day trips where our members can enjoy the outing and the fellowship of other Bell retirees, family and friends.

 Lunch

Our monthly meetings with a tasty lunch allow retirees to visit, share concerns and enjoy the speaker.

  Euchre

Once each month we meet in the afternoon for  very competitive Euchre.  Please feel free to join us.

  Movies

We hope to resume our monthly movie showing as soon as we are able.

  Keep watching for further update.
